The ambiance strikes a delicate balance between comfort and sophistication, making each visit memorable.
The star of the show, undoubtedly, is the food. Diners have highlighted dishes like the Deluxe Sushi Roll and the succulent ebi furai, with reviews touting the freshness of the ingredients—particularly the juicy lobsters that grace several dishes. One reviewer, Santanu Mukhopadhyay, described their ebi furai as “hands down won the game,” showcasing the culinary prowess present here. Other patrons have declared the 24-piece premium nigiri as the best sushi in Uruguay, leaving no doubt that Sushi True is committed to quality and excellence.
While the sushi is generally embraced with enthusiasm, a few reviews pointed out nuances, stating that some rolls felt heavy on the rice and could benefit from a touch more chill. It’s a reminder that even the best can have room for improvement, but the overall experience remains delightful. Every dish is crafted with care, and it's clear that the chefs care deeply about the quality of their offerings.
Another notable feature of Sushi True is its policy of prioritizing reservations, reflecting the restaurant's popularity. As highlighted by several guests, this cozy spot tends to fill quickly, so plan ahead to ensure you don’t miss out on this delightful culinary adventure. Just keep in mind that they currently only accept cash payments, which could pose a minor inconvenience.

“ Small intimate sushi place. Menu was fairly well craft but the sushi itself felt heavy on the rice and not quite cold enough. It all looked good but lacked well defined taste ”
“ This is one of the best sushi restaurants I've eaten at anywhere. Beautiful ambiance, great service, wonderful food! They also do a good job working around allergies. They even have Samurai accoutrements and traditional floor seating on the lower level. They also have people who speak English. The owner of Dani is exceptional. He is kind and an expert at what he does. ”
“ I've been trying different sushi restaurants but I would say this is one of the best if not the best. A little bit pricey but totally worth it. I had gyozas, ramen and sushi from the premium menu. ”
“ Upon entry, I was almost worried it would be a reservations-only kind of restaurant because I was taken aback by how ambient the restaurant was! Very private, intimate, and upscale-like. The sushi was really fantastic! Amongst the best I’ve ever had. I’d definitely come here again! Would recommend highly to anyone with a penchant for good food. ”
“ Amazing place! We had 24 pieces nigiri premium it was delicious! Best sushi in Uruguay!!! ”
“ We haven't reserved table... Just went randomly on Last Friday... We sat on salon... ambience is great. Food is awesome... We ordered Deluxe Sushi roll ... Sake... And ebi furai.... Ebi furai hands down won the game... Lobsters are fresh and juicy... Awesome food... Please visit and reserve a table... I will be back again to have some Sushi ... definitely recommend it... ”
“ The place is quiet and nice. The atmosphere is chill and the food is very close to excellent, probably one of the best sushi places in town. The only problem I found is that they don't accept credit or debit cards and they don't tell u that in advance. Also, I would like to suggest: add Mochi in your dessert menu. ”
